Are you thinking about purchasing a BlackBerry Z10 smartphone for its camera? If you’re expecting the Z10′s camera to perform well in low-light without flash, then think again. A test comparing the Z10′s camera to its competitors in low light was performed by the staff of Gizmodo, and BlackBerry fans who dislike using flash will be disappointed to hear the results. The BlackBerry Torch 9800 phone wasn’t really a star for this competition either.
Five smartphones were apart of the test; the BlackBerry Z10, Nokia Lumia 920, LG Nexus 4, Samsung Galaxy S3, and the iPhone 5. The test involved using each phone’s rear-facing camera with and without flash to take a picture in a dark room with low light and to compare the end result – making it clear which smartphone is equipped with the best camera for snapping pictures in low light (from the group of smartphones that were tested).

Sadly, the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone did not shine this round. Taking pictures with the Z10 without using its flash will result in horrible quality photos as shown above. Gizmodo crowned the Nokia Lumia as the best for snapping a quick picture in a dark room with low lighting. Nokia has a lot of great quality standalone cameras, so it makes sense.

When there is bad news, it’s always nice to have a little good news. Guess who Gizmodo crowned as the winner for the best camera when using flash in a room with dark conditions and low light? If you guessed the BlackBerry Z10, then you’re right. The Nokia Lumia 920 was a close second, though.
